My name is Faith Gaskins. I am certified to teach in grades 4-8 in Math Science History and English. I am originally from Pennsylvania. I currently reside in Dallas Texas with my husband Rian our two daughters Farrah and Audriana and our dog Cash. 

Education is the gateway to change peoples lives. Children can’t help what family they are born into or what resources they were provided, but education is something we are all guaranteed. I do believe that the education we all received shouldn’t be standardized. There are about 73.6 million children in the United States, 50 percent of them White, 14 percent Black, 26% Hispanic, and 5% Asian. They all come from different socioeconomic backgrounds and have parents different education levels. Their family structure is different, and they all have different learning styles. As educators, we need to be flexible. The idea that a standard way of teaching can effectively reach all these different children is unrealistic. Differentiation is key to being an effective teacher and creating an environment that promotes learning and growth. We must look at the whole person and try to help them grow and in all areas of life not just in knowledge in our content area. Having an ineffective education closes so many opportunities in children’s adult lives. Unemployment, homelessness and incarceration increases with lack of education. Many students leave school because they think school is not for them. They feel they are incapable of learning. Sadly this is because they were told to fit the mold of learning instead of the teaching being tailored to them. It is our job to adapt our teaching to suit every student we encounter. The outcome of their life depends on it.
